What is AACGain?

AACGain is a modification to the popular mp3gain program, designed to support AAC (mp4/m4a/QuickTime) audio files in addition to MP3 files. It utilizes the Replay Gain algorithm to normalize the volume of digital music files, making adjustments to the globalgain fields within the MP4 samples. The normalization process is reversible, as AACGain adds free-form metadata tags to the files to preserve undo information. Users can interact with AACGain through the same command-line interface as the original mp3gain program, and the tool also integrates with the iTunes media player via the iGain GUI
