What is Amazon DocumentDB?

Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) is a purpose-built database service designed to handle JSON data management at scale. It is fully managed and integrated with AWS, making it enterprise-ready with high durability. The service is designed from the ground up to provide the scalability and durability required for mission-critical MongoDB workloads Amazon DocumentDB automatically scales storage up to 64TiB without any impact on the application. It supports millions of requests per second with up to 15 low-latency read replicas in minutes, without any application downtime, regardless of the size of the data. The service also supports Global Clusters, a new feature that provides disaster recovery from region-wide outages and enables low-latency global reads by allowing reads from the nearest Amazon DocumentDB cluster Amazon DocumentDB is designed for 99.99 availability and replicates six copies of the data across three AWS Availability Zones (AZs). It also offers free access (for six months) to the AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), which allows users to easily migrate their self-managed MongoDB databases to Amazon DocumentDB with virtually no downtime
