What is Apache Edgent?
Apache Edgent is a programming model and micro-kernel style runtime that can be embedded in gateways and small footprint edge devices. It enables local, real-time analytics on continuous data streams from equipment, vehicles, systems, appliances, devices, and sensors of all kinds, such as Raspberry Pis or smartphones. This empowers edge devices to process information autonomously, reducing the need to transmit raw data to the cloud and lowering latency for time-sensitive applications. Edgent provides a flexible, scalable, and lightweight framework for developing and deploying analytics at the edge, allowing organizations to harness the power of real-time insights closer to the source of data generation
