What is Aptoide?
Aptoide is a distributed marketplace for mobile applications that runs on the Android operating system. Unlike the default Google Play Store, Aptoide does not have a single, centralized store. Instead, each user manages their own store, providing users with a decentralized app distribution platform. Aptoide offers various editions tailored for different devices, including Aptoide Mobile and Lite for smartphones and tablets, Aptoide TV for smart TVs and set-top boxes, and Aptoide Kids for children's devices. Additionally, Aptoide recently launched a VR App Store The Aptoide platform also provides B2B solutions, enabling partners to manage their own customized app stores. The Android application used to access the Aptoide stores is open source, and there are several forks, such as F-Droid. The communication between the client and servers is done using an open protocol based on XML, inspired by the APT packaging manager, which can work with multiple sources (repositories) Aptoide has reached over 97 million users and 2.8 billion downloads as of 2015, with its platform available in more than 40 languages. The stores hosted on the Aptoide platform offer over 700,000 Android apps, making it one of the largest independent Android app stores
