What is Autocrypt?
Autocrypt is a set of guidelines that enable convenient end-to-end encryption for email communications. It specifies how email programs can negotiate encryption capabilities through regular email messages, allowing users to benefit from encrypted messaging without the need for complex setup or specialized knowledge. Autocrypt Level 1, released in December 2017, offers users a single-click, opt-in encryption feature that eases encrypted group conversations and facilitates the setup of encryption across multiple devices. Several email applications have already implemented Autocrypt capabilities, with more planning to do so in the coming months
