What is Azure Files?
Azure File is a fully managed cloud file sharing service that provides enterprise-grade file storage accessible via the industry standard Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. The service enables concurrent mounting of file shares by cloud or on-premises deployments of Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. Azure File offers a distributed file system without the need for hidden network-attached storage (NAS) devices or infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) virtual machines, designed to seamlessly migrate existing file services, especially when used with the Storage Migration Service and Azure File Sync. Hybrid cloud file shares can be built, and Azure Files can be integrated with Azure Virtual Desktop and used for FSLogix user profile data storage. The platform supports multiple file sharing protocols, allowing stakeholders to store data from diverse sources and migrate existing on-premises file servers to the cloud
