What is Burn After Reading?

This innovative service offers a secure and privacy-focused solution for the confidential exchange of sensitive information between two parties. Designed with a focus on user privacy and data protection, this platform provides a means to securely share passwords, secrets, and other critical information through the use of one-time notes that are automatically destroyed after being accessed

Highlights

  • One-Time Notes: Users can create a single note that can only be read once by the intended recipient, ensuring the information is not accessible beyond its initial viewing
  • Encrypted Storage: The user's message is encrypted using a randomly generated passphrase before being stored, with the passphrase itself being hashed and stored separately. This prevents unauthorized access to the content, even if the system is breached
  • Automatic Deletion: Once the note has been accessed by the recipient, the encrypted message is immediately deleted from the system, effectively "burning" the information and ensuring it cannot be accessed or shared further
  • Size Limitations: The platform currently supports the transfer of messages up to 0.5 MB (512 KB) in size, with ongoing efforts to expand this limit for users with specific needs
  • Embedded Images: Users can include images within their messages, which are securely embedded as Base64-encoded data and encrypted alongside the text content.
