CatDV also supports the import and export of edit decision lists and other video-oriented file formats, enabling seamless integration with non-linear editing systems. CatDV provides a searchable catalogue for the vast array of multimedia file types, with log notes and thumbnails available, utilizing either online or offline lower-resolution proxy videos. The offline file browsing feature allows for the re-use of assets in multiple projects, particularly when network connectivity or bandwidth limitations are a concern. The software can be used as a standalone desktop application or as part of a networked operation through the optional CatDV Server
