What is Colorblinding?

The Colorblinding Chrome extension allows users to simulate how websites would appear to individuals with various types of color vision impairments. By applying real-time color filters, the extension enables users to experience websites from the perspective of those with red, green, or blue color blindness, as well as monochromacy and other related conditions. This tool not only helps developers assess the accessibility of their web content but also enables all users to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those with color vision differences

Highlights

  • Supports simulations for common types of color blindness, including protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, protanomaly, deuteranomaly, and tritanomaly
  • Includes a monochromacy/achromatopsia simulation for complete color vision loss
  • Provides a blue cone monochromacy simulation to mimic a rare form of color blindness
  • Allows users to easily toggle the color vision simulation on and off to compare the original and simulated views
  • Helps developers and designers assess the accessibility and color contrast of their web content for users with diverse visual capabilities
