What is Comodo Free Firewall?

Comodo Firewall is a personal firewall designed to secure Windows PCs by controlling and monitoring internet traffic on an application-by-application basis. The primary function of this firewall is to generate pop-up notifications when an unknown program attempts to access the internet for the first time, effectively blocking potential threats such as Trojan horses, botnets, unauthorized remote access, malicious coin miners, and apps transmitting privacy-invasive telemetry. To reduce the number of disruptive pop-up notifications, Comodo Firewall is capable of identifying well-known and digitally signed applications In addition to the core firewall functionality, Comodo Firewall offers host-based intrusion prevention (HIPS) and sandboxing capabilities. The HIPS component monitors applications for suspicious behaviors, such as attempts to inject themselves into other running processes, providing enhanced security at the cost of some user convenience. Users must carefully evaluate the trade-offs before enabling this feature The sandboxing feature, referred to as Containment, Sandbox, or Virtualization in different versions of the software, runs designated applications within a secured environment. This prevents any permanent or irreversible changes to the system, as the sandbox furnishes the application with a copy of the file it attempts to modify, leaving the original file unchanged. This sandboxing functionality is particularly useful for safely testing and evaluating new or untrusted applications
