What is Daylon Leveller?
Leveller is a comprehensive 3D terrain editor that combines intuitive pixel sculpting with the accuracy of georeferencing and vector shapes. Users can paint and select terrain, as well as apply filters, in a manner similar to a graphics editor. Daylon Leveller, developed by Daylon Graphics Ltd. of British Columbia, Canada, offers a terrain/heightfield modeling program with a two-paned window displaying a nadir (top-down) view of the heightfield and an OpenGL-based 3D view. Sculpting and other tools can be used on either pane, with edits immediately reflected in both views, providing an interactive modeling experience. The program utilizes a paint-program metaphor akin to Adobe Photoshop, featuring brushes, selection tools, and the ability to apply textures and water levels. Heightfields can be planar (flat) or distorted using UV displacement mapping onto various shapes, such as spheres, sphere sections, cones, and cylinders. Leveller also supports vector shapes through a separate vector layer, which can be used to situate edits and generate heightfield selection masks and formations. Additionally, the software offers cut/fill and cross-section analysis capabilities for civil engineering applications
