What is DivestOS?

A mobile operating system that departs from the norm. DivestOS is an unofficial soft fork of LineageOS, with over 700 proprietary blobs removed during the build process. This reduction in untrusted code enhances security by decreasing the attack surface and bolsters privacy. To address the issue of unpatched Linux kernel vulnerabilities, an automated patch checker applies fixes for over 2,900 CVEs. Additionally, bootloader relocking and verified boot are made available for compatible devices Privacy is further fortified through the inclusion of a curated hosts file that blocks over 200,000 advertising and tracking servers, and the removal of LineageOS's built-in analytics service, CMStats The operating system features Extirpater, the first free space eraser for Android, which helps prevent deleted files from being recovered, making it ideal for device migrations or before selling a device. Hypatia, an open-source real-time malware scanner backed by ClamAV signatures, can detect over 450,000 malware signatures Mull, a browser based on Mozilla technology, is hardened against advanced fingerprinting techniques through the Tor uplift project and arkenfox-user.js project. F-Droid, a catalog of privacy-respecting FOSS apps, is also included. UnifiedNlp, a plugin-based Fused location provider, enables battery-saving location determination without GPS. Finally, Silence, a SMS-only fork of Signal, replaces the default AOSP app, allowing for end-to-end encrypted messaging between Silence users
