What is Dolphin Smalltalk?

Dolphin is a comprehensive development environment for the Smalltalk programming language, tailored specifically for the Microsoft Windows platform. With its robust capabilities, users can create standalone graphical user interface (GUI) applications as well as console-based executables, ensuring compatibility across a wide range of Windows versions, from Windows XP to the current Windows 10 iteration. The latest version, Dolphin 7, marks a significant milestone as it has been fully open-sourced under the MIT license, making it freely available to the developer community. Prior to this release, Dolphin was offered in two distinct editions: the free Community Edition and the commercial Professional Edition, both at version 6. While existing customers can still access downloads for these previous versions, the general sales of these products have been discontinued, paving the way for the open-source Dolphin 7 to become the primary focus
