What is DuckStation?
DuckStation is a highly accurate simulator and emulator of the Sony PlayStation(TM) console, designed to prioritize playability, speed, and long-term maintainability. The emulator aims to faithfully reproduce the original hardware's functionality while maintaining performance suitable even for low-end devices. "Hack" options are intentionally discouraged, as the default configuration is engineered to support the playability of all compatible games, with only a few enhancements potentially causing compatibility issues. To use the emulator, a "BIOS" ROM image from any hardware version or region is required, though mismatched game and BIOS regions may result in compatibility problems. Due to legal constraints, the emulator does not include any ROM images, which users must obtain by dumping from their own consoles using tools like Caetla or similar means
