What is EyeDefender?
EyeDefender is a freeware application designed to prevent Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), a condition that can arise from prolonged computer use. CVS symptoms include eyestrain, blurred vision, delayed focusing, headaches, back and neck aches, dry and burning eyes, light sensitivity, distorted color vision, forehead heaviness, and sore eyes. While CVS cannot be eliminated entirely, its symptoms can be reduced and managed through regular breaks from the computer. EyeDefender aims to help users incorporate these necessary breaks into their routine Once installed, EyeDefender resides in the system tray and displays the time remaining until the next scheduled break. When the break time arrives, the program can display a customized slideshow, run a visual training exercise to relax the eyes, launch a screensaver, or display a timed reminder in the system tray. This functionality can also help prevent other computer-related issues, such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Occupational Overuse Syndrome, and Musculoskeletal Disorders, by encouraging regular breaks
