What is GetDeb?

GetDeb extends the software options available for Ubuntu and related Linux distributions by providing major updates and software not yet available in the official Ubuntu repositories. The packages are built using Debian/Ubuntu building rules, which reduces development effort and ensures the same level of quality. However, the development process does not strictly follow a formal quality assurance protocol, as the goal is to achieve shorter release times. This tradeoff is accepted, and issues with new packages are quickly identified and addressed as the user base grows. GetDeb avoids providing system core packages or major libraries that could cause dependency problems or other major system issues, ensuring that any problems can be easily resolved by reinstalling the official Ubuntu packages
