What is GoatTracker?
This crossplatform C64 music editor allows users to create and edit music with support for various output options. It utilizes the reSID engine developed by Dag Lem, enables connection to the HardSID 4U USB device and HardSID soundcards, as well as the CatWeasel MK3 platform. From version 2.0 onwards, the editor introduces enhanced step-programming capabilities, including wave/arpeggio, pulse, and filter controls. Additionally, the updated version provides access to 63 instruments and more instrument parameters, along with additional pattern commands. While the later versions may present a slightly steeper learning curve compared to the earlier 1.xx releases, users can import songs and instruments from the previous versions to explore the corresponding features in the newer edition. Importantly, the rastertime usage has remained consistent across the versions, and the software also offers a stereo output option
