What is JOSM?

JOSM is a feature-rich editing tool for the OpenStreetMap (OSM) project, written in the Java programming language. It enables users to load and work with various types of geospatial data, including GPX tracks, background imagery, and OSM data, which can be retrieved from both local and online sources. JOSM's core functionality allows users to edit the fundamental elements of OSM, such as nodes, ways, and relations, as well as their associated metadata tags.
