What is Kingdom of Loathing?

Kingdom of Loathing (KoL) is a browser-based, multiplayer role-playing game created by Asymmetric Publications, including Zack "Jick" Johnson and Josh "Mr. Skullhead" Nite. Released on February 23, 2003, the game continues to receive frequent content updates, remaining officially in open beta. Using hand-drawn stick figure graphics, KoL is characterized by surreal humor, wordplay, parody, and references to popular culture. Players navigate a turn-based system, fighting monsters to gain experience, in-game currency (meat), and items. The game offers diverse social and economic features, enabling players to engage in player-versus-player competition, trade goods and services, organize into clans, collaboratively complete clan basement dungeons, and communicate through various chat channels
