What is Limine?
Limine is an advanced x86/x8664 BIOS and UEFI bootloader that supports modern PC features such as Long Mode, 5-level paging, multi-core startup, and more thanks to the stivale and stivale2 boot protocols. As an essential piece of software, Limine takes over the computer after the firmware relinquishes control of the system, with the job of finding an operating system to boot and performing all the operations needed to get the operating system's kernel and modules up and running. Limine is the reference implementation of the stivale and stivale2 boot protocols, catering to the needs of operating system and kernel developers who require a protocol that supports modern features which the aging multiboot protocols used by GRUB do not, or do not properly
