What is m/prefetch?
The m/prefetch application leverages the system's built-in RAM cache feature to accelerate software launch speed. It achieves this by proactively reading user-specified files in the background at regular intervals. Unlike built-in system prefetchers which may cache files the user does not frequently access, m/prefetch allows users to designate the specific files they need cached to optimize application startup times. Many modern operating systems come bundled with a variety of background services that frequently access certain system files. These services can monopolize the cache, diminishing the chances of user-critical files being cached in time for application launches. By using m/prefetch, users can increase the cache priority of their needed files, ensuring they are readily available when launching their programs
