What is Mitaka?

Mitaka is a software application that offers a comprehensive visualisation of the known Universe. It integrates up-to-date observational data and theoretical models, enabling users to seamlessly navigate through space, from Earth to the farthest reaches of the observable Universe. The software provides two distinct modes: space mode and planetarium mode. In space mode, users can explore a wide range of celestial structures, from the topography of the Earth to the large-scale structure of the Universe. The planetarium mode allows users to view the sky as seen from a specific location on the planet. Additionally, there is a virtual reality (VR) version of Mitaka, which is compatible with head-mounted displays (HMDs) for an immersive experience
