What is MusicBrainz?
MusicBrainz is a user-maintained open community that collects and makes available to the public a comprehensive music information database in the form of a relational database. Initially created by Robert Kaye as a response to the commercialization of the free CDDB project, MusicBrainz has since expanded its scope to become a "Wikipedia for music", providing a community-driven platform for cataloging and sharing metadata on musical artists, releases, and related data
