What is NavIT?
Navit is an open source car navigation software that provides comprehensive mapping and routing capabilities for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Windows, and portable devices. The application utilizes GPS sensor data to display the user's position on a map, which can be viewed in either a bird's-eye perspective or a 3D visualization mode. Navit's route calculation functionality offers precise navigation, and the software supports touch screen interaction as well as Points of Interest (POI) data that can be extended through a user-friendly plugin system. Unlike many other navigation apps, Navit generates maps dynamically in real-time from vector data, allowing the software to function entirely offline without an internet connection. Additionally, Navit prioritizes user privacy by not tracking the user's location
