What is Nexuiz Classic?

Nexuiz is a high-quality, multi-platform first-person shooter game that has gained significant popularity since its initial release in 2005. Developed by Lee Vermeulen and Forest 'LordHavoc' Hale, the founders of Alientrap, the game was designed to be freely playable across various platforms, including PC, Mac, and Linux. The project was built upon the Darkplaces engine, a game engine created by Forest Hale, and has since undergone continuous development with contributions from a wide community of online contributors Over the years, Nexuiz has seen multiple versions, with the 2.5 release arriving in October 2009. The game has been downloaded over 6 million times and is included in many Linux distributions, demonstrating its widespread adoption and recognition. In 2010, a new version of Nexuiz was announced, featuring a ground-up remake for XBLA, PSN, and Steam, developed by IllFonic using Crytek's CryENGINE3. This new version was created in collaboration with the original Nexuiz designer, Forest 'LordHavoc' Hale, while some of the GPL contributors forked the project into a new game called Xonotic, and Lee Vermeulen shifted his focus to the development of Capsized
