What is Nexus: The Jupiter Incident?
In the 22nd Century, the player takes on the role of Marcus Cromwell, a renowned spacecraft captain whose father, the first spaceborn human, captained the colony ship Noah's Ark through a wormhole near Mars, only for the wormhole to collapse and his ship to be presumed destroyed. Cromwell sets out on the SpaceTech heavy corvette, the Stiletto, for Jupiter, with a small fleet of large, cumbersome spaceships and accompanying fighters and bombers, engaging in protracted, cinematic battles against other fleets. The game's Blacksun Engine, built specifically for Nexus, utilizes advanced visual effects through DirectX 9, including vertex and pixel shaders, and a parametric particle system, to deliver an immersive science fiction-themed real-time tactics experience focused on ship management and tactical combat, rather than resource collection and base construction
