What is Ngspice?

Ngspice is a comprehensive circuit simulation tool that combines the capabilities of several open-source software packages, including Spice3f5, Cider1b1, and Xspice. As a part of the gEDA project, Ngspice provides users with a fully GPL-licensed suite of electronic design automation tools Spice3, the foundational circuit simulator, has become a de-facto standard over the course of more than 30 years, demonstrating its reliability and widespread adoption. Cider enhances the simulation accuracy of critical devices by coupling the Spice3f5 circuit-level simulator with the DSIM device simulator, which models devices in terms of their underlying structures and materials. Xspice further extends Ngspice's capabilities by providing code modeling support and enabling the simulation of digital components through an embedded event-driven algorithm
