What is OpenDrop?

OpenDrop is a command-line tool that enables direct file sharing between devices over Wi-Fi. Its key capability is compatibility with the Apple AirDrop protocol, allowing users to share files with Apple devices running iOS and macOS. Currently, OpenDrop only supports sending to Apple devices that are set to be discoverable by everyone, as the default contacts-only mode requires Apple-signed certificates. As an experimental software resulting from reverse engineering efforts by the Open Wireless Link project, OpenDrop may not support all AirDrop features or maintain compatibility with future AirDrop versions. Users should exercise caution when utilizing this unaffiliated and unendorsed application
