What is openNAC?

openNAC is an open-source Network Access Control (NAC) solution designed for corporate LAN and WAN environments. It enables authentication, authorization, and audit-based policy enforcement for all network access. The system supports a wide range of networking equipment from vendors like Cisco, Alcatel, 3Com, and Extreme Networks, as well as diverse client devices including PCs with Windows or Linux, Macs, smartphones, and tablets. Built on open-source components and custom development, openNAC adheres to industry standards such as FreeRadius, 802.1x, Active Directory, and LDAP. Its modular plugin architecture allows for easy extensibility and integration with existing systems. Beyond access control, openNAC provides valuable add-on services, including configuration management, network backup, discovery, and monitoring capabilities
