What is Plank?

Plank is a lightweight and minimalist dock application designed to provide only the essential features required for a dock. Although it is a simple and straightforward solution, Plank is also a flexible library that can be extended to create more advanced dock programs. As the underlying technology for Docky, starting from version 3.0.0, Plank focuses on delivering the core dock functionality, while Docky builds upon it to offer additional features such as Docklets, painters, and settings dialogs
