What is Privacy Friendly QR Scanner?

The app enables users to identify potentially harmful links embedded in QR codes. QR codes have emerged as a new attack vector, as they can conceal malicious links that redirect to phishing sites or automatically download malware. To address this threat, the app provides users with a scanner that analyzes QR codes and alerts them to any suspicious links, empowering them to make informed decisions before accessing the linked content. Developed by the SECUSO (Security, Usability and Society) research group at the Technische Universitt Darmstadt in Germany, this app is part of the Privacy Friendly Apps initiative, designed to prioritize user privacy and security
