What is pTolemy3D?
pTolemy3D aims to equip users with the open-source software tools needed to create their own 3D geospatial web applications. Inspired by Google Earth and World Wind Java, the pTolemy3D Viewer application shares the core functionality of rendering and exploring 3D geographic data, but with a stronger focus on leveraging the web browser as the primary platform. Rather than a standalone desktop application, pTolemy3D is designed to integrate seamlessly into web-based workflows, allowing users to embed interactive 3D maps and visualizations directly into their browser-based projects. By providing a suite of FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) components, pTolemy3D empowers developers to construct custom 3D GeoWeb solutions tailored to their specific needs, without the constraints of proprietary platforms. Whether visualizing urban environments, terrain models, or geospatial data layers, pTolemy3D aims to democratize the creation of interactive 3D mapping experiences on the web
