RANDOM.ORG is an online service that provides true random numbers to users across the internet. The randomness is generated from atmospheric noise, which is considered superior to the typical pseudo-random number algorithms used in computer programs. People utilize RANDOM.ORG for a variety of applications, including holding drawings, lotteries and sweepstakes, driving games and gambling sites, scientific research, and artistic endeavors. Established in 1998, the service was created and is operated by Mads Haahr of the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College, Dublin in Ireland.
