What is rEFInd - Boot Manager?
rEFInd is a boot manager for computers based on the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) and Unified EFI (UEFI). Like its predecessor rEFIt, rEFInd presents a menu of options to the user when the computer first starts up, allowing them to select the operating system or other software they wish to boot. However, unlike rEFIt, rEFInd is a fork of the earlier project, created by the author in response to several limitations of the original program, such as poor control over the boot loader detection process and a limited number of boot loader entries displayed on the main screen. With the original rEFIt project seemingly abandoned, the author decided to fork the code and add new features to create rEFInd as an enhanced alternative
