What is Scoold?
Scoold is an open-source question-and-answer platform that emulates the functionality of StackOverflow. It allows users to ask and answer questions, upvote and downvote posts, and earn badges and reputation points. Each edit to a post creates a new revision, enabling easy tracking of the edit history. Scoold is designed for cloud deployment, with a simple "Deploy to Heroku" button that allows users to get up and running quickly. It can also be deployed on other preferred Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) providers Scoold's content is indexed and analyzed using the Para and Elasticsearch search engines, enabling users to search for questions, answers, and users through the top search bar. Questions can be associated with specific locations, allowing for geolocation-based filtering and searches. Scoold implements a reputation system similar to StackExchange sites, where users earn points and badges for their contributions The frontend of Scoold is kept simple, utilizing the jQuery JavaScript library to handle AJAX requests and element manipulation. Pages are rendered on the server, making them easily crawlable by search engines, and the URLs are clean and tidy. Scoold is enterprise-friendly, supporting LDAP authentication, making it suitable for intranet deployments behind corporate firewalls Scoold can be used as a Q&A platform, forum, knowledge base, or customer support system. With the growing frustration among teams using StackOverflow in the enterprise, Scoold provides a self-hosted alternative, as there are few good options currently available
