What is SilverSHielD?
SilverSHielD is a free SSH (SSH2) and SFTP server for Windows that offers a range of robust features. It supports various authentication methods, including keyboard-interactive, password-based (with support for Windows/AD account authentication), and public-key (with the ability to configure multiple keys per user). The server provides additional security settings, such as the ability to set the maximum number of concurrent connections (available in the Pro edition), enforce a delay upon new connections to mitigate against hammering attacks, and limit access to specific IP addresses or networks. SilverSHielD also offers per-folder permissions on virtual folders, which can be hidden but remain functional, as well as per-user IP security and the option to auto-disable user accounts after a certain date or time The server includes secure shell/command (SSH2) functionality, forwarding, SFTP (with support for files larger than 4 GB), and compression (Zlib). Additionally, SilverSHielD features a powerful script-based event handling subsystem that supports four major scripting languages, allowing for extensive customization and integration SilverSHielD runs as a system service, and its administration is handled through a modern Management Console included in the download package, which establishes a secure channel with the server and enables remote configuration of one or many servers. Alternatively, users can take advantage of the Command-Line Interface (CLI) to integrate SilverSHielD management into their workflow, even using third-party management tools
