What is SkyORB?

SkyORB is a comprehensive astronomy app that goes beyond a simple star map, offering a collection of 7 integrated tools. At its core, SkyORB provides a highly detailed 3D star map and 3D planetarium, allowing users to explore the night sky with precision. The app's ephemeris feature calculates and displays information such as sunset, sunrise, moonrise, moonset, and full/new moon dates, as well as a calendar of upcoming astronomy events The 3D planetarium offers multiple viewing modes, showcasing planets and satellites with photo-realistic textures and visuals. Users can observe the solar system in real-time or fast-forward, with detailed facts about each planet. The 3D sky map displays a wealth of celestial objects, including planets, stars, constellations, deep-sky objects, comets, and satellites, with the ability to track their real-time precession SkyORB's search engine allows users to quickly locate and explore specific celestial bodies, while the weather retrieval function provides location-based weather information. The app supports multi-touch gestures, enabling users to easily zoom in and out of the star map and planetarium. Under the hood, SkyORB utilizes a 64-bit multithreaded astronomy engine and a multithreaded graphics engine with OpenGL 4.0 support, ensuring smooth performance and high-definition rendering, even on Retina displays
