What is spectrwm?
spectrwm is a lightweight dynamic tiling window manager for X11. It aims to stay out of the way, allowing users to focus on their content and tasks without distractions. This window manager comes with sane defaults and does not require learning a programming language for configuration. Spectrwm was written by hackers for hackers, striving to be small, compact, and fast. It was largely inspired by the window managers xmonad and dwm, borrowing ideas and code from these projects while addressing their limitations. Unlike xmonad, which is written in the Haskell programming language, Spectrwm is coded in C, making it more accessible and portable. Similarly, Spectrwm aims to improve on the asymmetrical window layout and "how hard can it be?" philosophy of dwm. The result is a window manager that combines the strengths of its predecessors while addressing their weaknesses, providing a streamlined and efficient user experience
