What is Surge Synthesizer?

Surge is an open-source digital subtractive-hybrid synthesizer that was previously sold commercially by Vember Audio. The synth employs a unique dual-scene architecture, allowing users to layer or split patches using separate instances of the entire synthesis engine, excluding effects. Surge is available as a VST plugin for Windows, Linux, and Mac, as well as in the AU (Audio Unit) format for Mac and the LV2 format for Linux. Additionally, the synth is available as a set of modules for the VCV Rack modular platform
