What is SyncToy?

SyncToy is a free file synchronization tool created by Microsoft. It offers a graphical user interface that enables users to automatically synchronize local or network files and folders. However, it lacks support for WebDAV, "Windows Mobile" files or folders, and does not provide triangle-sync capabilities, which are features found in other tools like Allway Sync, Synkron, SyncLess, and GoodSync. SyncToy does not offer support for the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) and is not portable. The tool can manage multiple sets of folders simultaneously, allowing users to combine files from two folders in one case and mimic renames and deletions in another. Notably, SyncToy tracks file renames and ensures those changes are carried over to the synchronized folder, a functionality that distinguishes it from other synchronization applications
