What is The Breathing App?

The Breathing App is designed to guide users through the practice of resonant breathing, a technique that synchronizes various physiological processes for significant health benefits. Resonance describes the natural alignment of heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, and brainwave function when breathing at a rate of 5-7 breaths per minute, compared to the typical 15-18 breaths per minute. This coherence between the body's systems induces a state of calm alertness, with numerous scientific studies demonstrating reductions in inflammation and stress, improved sleep and cardiovascular function, and enhanced resilience The key to these wide-ranging benefits lies in the balanced interplay between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. The sympathetic "accelerator" drives activity, while the parasympathetic "brakes" promote rest and recovery. Resonant breathing enables users to voluntarily activate the parasympathetic system, counteracting feelings of anxiety, distraction, or excessive stress. By consciously slowing the breath, users can signal to the brain that they are in a state of safety and calm, rather than being overwhelmed
