What is Tigase?

Tigase is an open-source (AGPL3) project that has been developed since October 2004 to create a Java-based implementation of an XMPP server. The project was initially focused on creating a fully compliant XMPP server with backward compatibility to an informal XMPP specification. Over time, the project has expanded to include separate components, such as a server implementation, XML tools with a parser for XML streams, and a test suite with a built-in scripting language
