What is TrueNAS?

TrueNAS is an open source storage operating system that can be installed on virtually any hardware platform to share data over a network. It provides a centralized and easily accessible place for data storage, supporting various protocols such as CIFS (Samba), FTP, NFS, AFP, RSYNC, and iSCSI. TrueNAS also offers software RAID (0,1,5) functionality, S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, and a full web-based configuration interface. The operating system is based on a minimal FreeBSD distribution, including web interface, PHP scripts, and documentation derived from M0n0wall
