What is VoteIT?

VoteIT is a web-based tool designed to facilitate democratic and participatory meetings conducted online. It provides a centralized platform where the agenda, discussions, proposals, and polls are gathered in a clean and straightforward interface. The tool allows participants to choose their own facilitator or moderator, who oversees the meeting and sets up new agenda items or polls as needed. VoteIT is a free and open-source project, available for download from GitHub, enabling users to host the platform on their own servers. The project's origins trace back to 2009 when the Swedish gaming federation, Sverok, was awarded the first of two 100,000 grants from the Swedish Inheritance Fund. The initial phase of the project was completed in the fall of 2011, leading to the launch of the mote.voteit.se website, which now hosts free online meetings for various organizations. VoteIT has been developed and maintained by a collaboration of several different organizations, including Sverok and Betahaus, with a recently formed non-profit organization, VoteIT, taking on the ongoing development and support of the platform
