What is WikiPathways?
WikiPathways is an open-access, community-driven platform designed to facilitate the collection, curation, and distribution of biological pathway information. Leveraging the familiar MediaWiki software that powers Wikipedia, the platform provides a collaborative environment for researchers, students, and experts to contribute, maintain, and access pathway data. The system incorporates a custom graphical pathway editing tool and integrates with databases covering major gene, protein, and small-molecule systems, enabling users to easily create, update, and share pathway knowledge. By shifting the responsibility for peer review, editorial curation, and ongoing maintenance to the broader community, WikiPathways presents a novel model for pathway databases that complements existing efforts such as KEGG, Reactome, and Pathway Commons
