What is Xed?

Xed is a versatile text editor that serves as the default application for text-based tasks in Linux Mint. Forked from the popular editors Pluma and Gedit, Xed inherits a robust set of features while also offering additional functionality not typically found in basic text editors. At its core, Xed provides a graphical user interface that enables users to work with multiple text files simultaneously, akin to a tabbed document interface. The editor seamlessly handles international text through its support for the Unicode UTF-8 encoding, ensuring seamless handling of diverse character sets.
