What is XShelf?

XShelf is a powerful utility for MacOS X that enhances the native drag and drop functionality. It allows users to "pause" drag and drop operations, enabling them to access multiple sources and targets without having to juggle windows. This flexibility eliminates the need to ensure that both the source and destination of a file transfer are visible on the screen simultaneously

Highlights

  • Pause drag and drop operations: Users can drag files or folders into the XShelf and hold them there until they are ready to drop them in the desired location
  • Support for multiple simultaneous drag and drop operations: Users can have several drag and drop actions in progress at the same time, streamlining complex file management tasks
  • Integration with Services and the clipboard: XShelf seamlessly integrates with the system's built-in Services and clipboard functionality, providing a comprehensive file management solution
  • Command-line utility (XShelver): XShelf includes a command-line tool that allows users to add items to the shelf programmatically, expanding its capabilities for power users and automation.
