What is ZIM?
Zim is a versatile desktop application that transforms the concept of a wiki into a personal information management tool. It enables users to store, organize, and edit a wealth of information, from to-do lists and meeting notes to blog drafts and research notebooks. The core functionality of Zim revolves around the creation and management of pages, which are stored in a hierarchical folder structure akin to an outliner. Users can easily add new pages by clicking a button, linking to a non-existent page, or typing a CamelCase name. Each page can be formatted using a lightweight markup syntax, which is then previewed in real-time as the user types. This markup, a hybrid of wiki and Markdown, can be used to create headings, bullet lists, tables, and various text styles, allowing for a flexible and expressive note-taking experience Zim's autosave feature ensures that users can seamlessly switch between pages, follow links, or even close the application without losing their work. The interface also includes multi-document tabs and remembers the cursor position in each note, enabling users to quickly resume their note-taking activities
