What is Folding@home?
Foldinghome is a collaborative effort that harnesses the power of a global network of individual computers to combat diseases through data-crunching research. This distributed computing project enables people from around the world to download and run software that collectively forms one of the largest supercomputers in existence. Every computer that participates brings the project closer to achieving its goals. Foldinghome utilizes novel computational methods coupled with distributed computing to simulate problems that are millions of times more challenging than what has been previously accomplished The project is focused on disease research, tackling complex problems that require vast amounts of computer calculations. By harnessing the unused computing power of volunteers, Foldinghome can explore and analyze potential cures at a scale that would not be feasible otherwise
